America’s Got Talent: July 21st, 2009 Auditions

americasgottalent Americas Got Talent: July 21st, 2009 Auditions

Tonight’s episode featured the MySpace auditions and I have to say that I am disappointed. While I don’t mind the bad act from time to time, I was disappointed that so much time was dedicated to the bad acts that there was so little time spent on several acts that moved onto the next round. Combine that with the fact that once again way to many singers moved on and I didn’t think too highly of this episode. With only one more audition remaining, I hope they left the best non singing talent till the end.

Jerry “El Vegas” Katz (Elvis Impersonator)-An Elvis impersonator that doesn’t look like Elvis. Boy was it obvious that his singing act was going to be terrible. You have to seriously be the best Elvis impersonator in the world to move onto the next round in my opinion since there are just so many Elvis impersonators. Add in the fact that he was easily one of the worst singers this season and it was no surprise that he didn’t move on. What was surprising was that he somehow doesn’t get three x’s.  Not Moved On.  Talent: D-   Entertainment: D-

Other acts not moved on: The Jumping Eagles (jump ropers that can’t jump rope), Shaun Berkey (Singer), Don Baldaramos (Shakespeare performer), and Shaunie (Singer).

Ashley Groff (Singer)-Congrats to you America’s Got Talent. For once you actually tricked me. I actually thought she was going to be good since she was getting a good vibe edit. Obviously I was wrong. I seriously want to know what in the world were those weird squeals. Not Moved On. Talent: D-  Entertainment: D-

Ishaara (Bollywood Dancers): Obviously this act is trying to cash in on Slumdog Millionaire. They are pretty good dancers but I don’t think they really are any better than the other dancing groups moved on. Just like the many singing acts, the judges are going to have a very hard decision as far as which dancers move on at the Vegas auditions. Moved On. Talent: B  Entertainment: B-

Other act moved on: The Flash (Acrobatic Jugglers)

Duo Design (Acrobats)-Their act is impressive but I think their act could honestly use some improvement in the pacing of their act. I found the act a little slow. They are talented but I think there could be a little improvement in the next round. Moved On. Talent: B  Entertainment: B

Eddie & The Puppet Divas (Ventriloquist)-If he was actually singing he would have been talented but since he didn’t it was obvious that he had to go. I do question why he was buzzed out so early though when some terrible singing acts usually get to finish out their acts. Not Moved On. Talent: D   Entertainment: D-

Marcus Terell & The Serenades (Singers)-Another singing act that moves on. What a surprise. It’s not really an insult of the group but the fact is that they really aren’t any better than the other singers moved through. I like that they actually have an original style but they need work and with so many singers moved onto the next round they are going to have to bring their A game if they want to move past the Vegas round.  Moved On. Talent: B-  Entertainment: B-

Charles DeWayne Dorsey (Singer and Keyboard Player)-Pretty much just like every other singer moved on to Vegas. He is not a bad singer but as I have said time and time again, way too many singers are being put through this season. Overall I would probably put him in the top half of the singers. Moved On.  Talent: B Entertainment: B

Other acts moved on: Encore (Dance Group), Alicia Cooper (Comic), N2UN (Violin and Piano Player), and Kara & Corey Britz (Singer and Guitar Player).

Heavy Vee (Dancer)-I applaud her for her courage to get on stage but her dancing is not worthy of moving on to the next round (she still wouldn’t be the worst dancer moved onto the Vegas round though). I am surprised by America’s Got Talent though since they actually ended an episode without a feel good story that moved onto the next round. Not Moved On. Talent: D  Entertainment: D
