After watching last night’s episode, I was left with just one thought. What does a President have to do in order to be impeached? While President Taylor hasn’t reached that point quite yet, every episode she is getting closer and closer to becoming one of the worst Presidents in 24 history.

What’s the saddest thing about that is that the 24 universe has had some awful presidents (not based on acting but on how good they were as Commander in Chief). I wonder why the world is in such trouble in the 24 universe. Ever since David Palmer left office, the country has had bad president after bad president. There was the dummy president (whose name I can’t remember) that took over for David Palmer. He pretty much did nothing and even had to resort to letting David Palmer to help him out. Then there was the traitor Charles Logan. I think his actions speak for himself in how terrible he was. Then there was Wayne Palmer who definitely didn’t take after his brother. Another dummy president in my opinion. Then there was Noah Daniels who was partially psychotic with a huge ego. People complain about the state that the US is currently in and I have to say that we are lucky that things aren’t as bad as they are in the 24 universe.

So what puts President Taylor alongside such terrible presidents such as Charles Logan. It simply comes down to how stubborn and stupid she has been acting. I have no idea what in the world is going on in her head. Obviously she doesn’t really understand her job title since the last time I checked her job title involves her protecting her own people first and foremost. It’s terrible what is happening in Sangala but come on. President Taylor is making no sense. Why would you risk your own people just so you can be ready to invade a country that you don’t even have a leader in place to eventually take over the country?. Her actions alone are single handedly leading to Americans and probably Sangalans unnecessarily dying.

I don’t know if it is just me but why in the world wouldn’t you just remove the troops from Sangala. You then get back the device and if you still want to invade Sangala you then do it. Why do you have to be truthful with terrorists? Trick them into thinking you are retreating long enough to get the device from them. Then you can do whatever you were originally planning. Currently we are just being stubborn and stupid. We aren’t invading or retreating so things aren’t changing in Sangala and innocent Americans are dying. If anything else happens due to President Taylor’s stubbornness/craziness, I think she should be impeached immediately. Unlike previous Presidents and their terrorist attacks, President Taylor could actually use her brain and actually stop these attacks unlike the other presidents.

I know I rambled on about the fact that President Taylor is being an idiot, but I felt the need to since her stupidity was pretty distracting in my opinion. It’s too bad since the rest of the 24 episode was pretty good. The President’s stupidity overshadowed the rest of the episode though.

So besides the President being an idiot; Jack, Tony, Bill, and Chloe continue their undercover work. Bill and Chloe save Renee after being buried alive. She eventually starts to realize that the government is corrupt and for some reason seems to join their group immediately. I would think you would have second doubts about them telling the truth.

Meanwhile Jack and Tony have their work cut out for them when the other terrorists they are with turn on them since they get suspicious of Jack. Tony and Jack dispatch the two terrorists and hide their bodies. Tony is emotional after killing his former friend. While I can see why he could be upset, I sure hope Tony doesn’t turn evil. No matter what happened to him in his past, Tony isn’t a person to turn into a full blown terrorist. I believe that would be a jump the shark moment and would ruin everything that happened in the past seasons with Tony.

Jack and Tony free Matobo and his wife. They tell them about the fact that they are undercover and convince them to play along with the idea that they are still terrorists. Chloes puts a tracer on both of them so they can trace their location when they are picked up by the higher up terrorists. They are eventually taken away and the undercover team follows their position.

Overall the Jack and Tony storyline is obviously the best storyline of the season. I am glad that Tony is back and I like their “undercover agency”. I also like Renee most likely joining the group since she is easily the best new cast additions this season. As a matter of fact if 24 does get a spin off, I would have no problem with Renee being the lead.

Even though the storyline has been intriguing so far, I am worried about the storyline moving so fast. I just hope that the storyline doesn’t end so fast that for the rest of the season 24 will have it’s typical filler storyline to finish out the season. I truly want the big storyline to last the whole season which would be the first time in 24′s history.

Finally we get a little more from Mr. Taylor’s storyline. The corrupt secret service agent kills Samantha and is about to kill Mr. Taylor until he regains movement and is able to strangle the secret service agent. While I have never been a huge fan of this storyline, I do hope that this storyline is actually going somewhere. If the show uses it to let us find out more about the corruption, I will be happy with the storyline. If it becomes just filler material I will be disappointed.

Quotes:

Chloe (when asked which agency she is a part of): “No, I’m a stay at home mom.”

Your Take:

Do you agree with me that President Taylor has already established herself as one of the worst Presidents in 24 history? Do you like the return of Tony? Do you think Mr Taylor’s storyline is just filler material or part of a much bigger storyline?
