Story
Things are always far from normal at the Harper home. Charlie continues his womanizing ways. Alan has to deal with another divorce. Jake heads into his teenage years and starts to resemble his uncle more and more. This and much more is awaiting you in the fourth season of Two and a Half Men.
Before I begin I need to remind people that this is not actually the most recent season of Two and a Half Men. This is the time that last year’s TV seasons are being put out on DVD so some people will probably think that this is also the latest season. This is actually the previous season (last year was the fifth season). Two and a Half Men fell behind on their DVD sets and that is why they haven’t caught up with the most current season yet. However, the fifth season should be coming very soon.
Since this is the #1 comedy on American television (in ratings) I already know that there are a lot of fans of the show. I am not going to really go into the plot since most people have probably already seen the show at some point. The show is essentially your basic comedy centered around a womanizing uncle, his brother who has no luck in life, and his nephew.
Now this next statement could upset some people but I think Two and a Half Men is one of the most overrated comedies on television. In my opinion it is not even near the best comedy on television. The show is too generic in my opinion and it really lacks those laugh-out-loud moments in my opinion. Due to these two facts I think Two and a Half Men is only an average comedy. People will disagree with me and that doesn’t bother me since comedy is very subjective. Just because I think it is just an average comedy doesn’t mean that you won’t like it.
Special Features
When you look at the special features you can see that you don’t get a lot as far as special features are concerned. You get three special features:
- Commentaries-Two commentaries with Creators Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn; and stars Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones
- Two Men Talking About Two and a Half Men-Creators Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn talk about the season and how the show has developed over the first four season.
- Gag Reel-Your typical gag reel.
While you might not get a lot of special features I was actually a little surprised by them. The commentaries and gag reel are what you would expect out of those type of special features. The discussion with the creators was pretty interesting though since they talk about how they are changing the show as Jake grows up. The special features are far from a must watch but if you are a fan of the show you should enjoy them.
Final Thoughts
While I think Two and a Half Men is only an average comedy this does not mean that I don’t like the show. The show is worth watching and people who enjoy comedies should enjoy it. If you are a fan of the show I would recommend that you pick up the fourth season of the Two and a Half Men.
