Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? S3.E12 (November 21, 2008) Recap

Rick Fox:

  • His game started last week, you can see his progress here.
  • Question 4 (2nd Grade Music): “The bassoon is a member of what musical family? A. Woodwind, B. Percussion, C. Brass” He goes with brass but is incorrect because the answer is woodwind. Luckily, Olivia has the right answer and saves him.
  • Question 5 (2nd Grade Spelling): “How many times does the letter “y” appear in the following word? Beautiful” Rick isn’t fooled by this trick question and goes with 0. He’s correct for $25,000.
  • Question 6 (4th Grade U.S. Geography): “In what U.S. city do the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers meet and form the Ohio River?” He peeks at Francesca’s paper. She wrote Missouri for some reason so Rick guesses St. Louis instead. Unfortunately the answer is Pittsburgh so Rick flunks out with $25,000.

Jennie Garth:

  • Question 1 (1st Grade Animal Science): “True or false? The animal known as a “minnow” is a type of fish.” She goes with true and is correct.
  • Question 2 (1st Grade Health): “What finger is the arrow pointing to in the following image of a human hand? A. Ring finger, B. Index finger, C. Pinky” Obviously you won’t be able to figure this out without the image but the answer is B. Jennie answers B and is correct.
  • Question 3 (2nd Grade Math): “Every multiple of ten has what number in the ones place?” She goes with 0 and is correct.
  • Question 4 (3rd Grade World Geography): “True or false? The equator runs through every continent except Antarctica.” She guess it is false and is correct.
  • Question 5 (2nd Grade Spelling): “What is the last letter in the name of the following U.S. state? Illinois.” Obviously the answer has been given to you and Jennie quickly gets the correct answer, s.
  • Question 6 (3rd Grade Social Studies): “What U.S. city was once known as New Amsterdam when it was part of a Dutch colony?” She copies Francesca’s paper because she has no idea. Francesca wrote New York, which is the correct answer.
  • Question 7 (4th Grade Ancient Cultures): “In Greek mythology, what was the name of the three headed dog that guarded the underworld?” She peeks at Jonathan’s paper and he wrote Cerberus. She goes with his answer and is correct.
  • Question 8 (5th Grade Music): “Eighteenth century classical music composer Wolfgang Mozart was born in what present-day country?” She has no idea so she drops out with her $100,000. The answer was Austria.

“Arrested Development” Movie Basically a Done Deal

Over the past two days, various outlets have been reporting details about the upcoming “Arrested Development.” While it isn’t technically official yet, producers Mitch Hurwitz and Ron Howard have signed on and E!’s Kristin Dos Santos reported that the movie is budgeted at $15 million. Unfortunately, there is a holdout (I’m assuming it’s Michael Cera aka George Michael) but the movie will be made whether or not the holdout signs on. All of the other cast members have signed on.

I am so excited that this movie will finally see the light of day. I just have a feeling that the movie will be a huge success and finally make the franchise a hit. It’s too bad it couldn’t have happened when “Arrested Development” was still on TV but a series of movies would be almost as good.

Rants and Raves (November 21st, 2008)

Grey’s Anatomy S5.E9 In the Midnight Hour

Last night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy was probably one of the worst episodes of the season for Grey’s Anatomy. The problem with the episode is that none of the stories last night were that interesting.

First of all there was the continuation of the terrible Izzie/Denny storyline. Why couldn’t have Grey’s Anatomy just kept Denny “dead”? I liked Denny in his first stint on the show but this most recent storyline is essentially destroying the character. Hopefully Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s time left on the show is very limited and maybe he can actually get a better role than playing a character that should just remain dead. Next there was the whole intern storyline. I never really liked the storyline. Thankfully it should be over after this week.

One possible positive to come out of the show though is that it appears that Lexie and George will get together very soon. I personally like this idea especially since I think George and Lexie could be a great couple for the show.

Quotes:

Derek: “Who’s making a porno in Izzie’s room.”

Sloane: “Where are all the interns?”

Denny: “Me and my dead guy friends usually talk about sports.”
